Judd Legum is running for State Delegate to create jobs, cut waste and inefficiency from state government, improve our schools and clean up the Chesapeake Bay.
Judd is the only candidate who refuses to accept any money from state lobbyists or PACs. He understands the importance of representing the people of District 30 and not special interests.
Judd recently served as a chair of the City of Annapolis Transition Team, focusing on the economic redevelopment of the City Dock and Market House. Judd has also been appointed to the Severn River Commission, providing advice to Anne Arundel County on how to restore one of the Bay’s dirtiest rivers. He has been endorsed by the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club.
Currently, Judd is an attorney at a family-owned law firm in Annapolis, which his father Alan founded over 35 years ago. Service is a priority for Judd: he has volunteered as a pro-bono representative and advocate for dozens of low-income area families.
Judd has also served as the Research Director at the Center for American Progress, a leading public policy think tank, where he was an innovator in applying modern communication techniques to promote and advance policy. He founded the organization’s popular blog, edited a daily e-newsletter and regularly appeared on national television and radio programs.
Growing up in Annapolis Roads and Eastport, Judd attended the Key School in Hillsmere. He played softball at PAL park, waited tables at Steamboat Landing in Galesville and liked to see the $1 shows at the old Eastport Cinemas.
He went on to receive his B.A. in Public Policy Analysis from Pomona College in Claremont, California and his J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.
A fifth generation Annapolitan, Judd’s great-great-grandparents opened a general merchandise store on West Street in Annapolis around 1900. Judd lives downtown, around the corner from where the store was located, with his wife Roshini.
